Zamova V. Stitcher, 92, wife of Dr. Joseph E. Stitcher died on December 3, 2022 in Denver, Colorado. Prior to her move to Denver in 2019, she was a long-time resident of Lincoln, NE. She was born on September 29, 1930 in Fairfax, Minnesota. Zamova and Joseph were married on June 14, 1952 in Maryland and had four children. Teresa (Mike) Stitcher Fritz, Estes Park, Colorado; Richard (Patty) Stitcher, Piedmont, South Carolina; Lisa (Warren) Hughes, Englewood, Colorado and Kathy (Jeff) Proctor, Dillion, Colorado. She has six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. As the wife of a Navy doctor, Zamova and the family were stationed at the Guantanamo Naval Base for two years. During that time they were evacuated from the base during the Cuban missile crisis.
Zamova loved her family and many friends and was an active entertainer in their home. She and her husband owned a cabin in Estes Park, Colorado and enjoyed spending the summers there. She was an avid bridge player and played in many groups. She was a member of PEO, Chapter DM. For many years, she volunteered at the St. Elizabeth Hospital gift shop and the University of Nebraska Morrill Hall gift shop. She was a member of the Heritage League which raised funds for not-for-profits. As a doctor’s wife, she was a member of the Lancaster County Medical Auxiliary. She and Joe were also strong supporters of and volunteers at Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach. She and her husband loved to travel with friends. In her private life, she was accomplished at needle arts.
