Bill was born on April 16, 1930 in Minot, North Dakota, attended St Leo's Catholic School and graduated from Minot High School in 1948. He grew up in Minot, surrounded by a large extended family and many cousins.
He enlisted in the United States Army following high school and was trained as a medical corpsman.
Bill attended Seattle University and the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. This is where he met the love of his life Marjorie Stringlund and was married in 1950.
He was employed as a supervisor for Safeco Insurance and later founded his owner insurance agency in the Denver area. He was also an active entrepreneur in real estate.
Bill was an avid sportsman and golfer, with a love of travel. He and his wife, Marge, have a map that mark every location in North America, where they had taken trips together.
Bill was a dedicated family man and is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie, 4 children - Jim Vandersluis (Vicki), Tom Vandersluis (Peggy), Linda Scott and Sue West (Mark), 3 sisters - Debbie Hjellum, Judie Foster and Jane Nelson. His parents, Meredith and Bill Vandersluis, his brother Bob and his son Paul, predeceased him.
Bill passed away peacefully on March 24th, 2016, surrounded by his family.
