Walter A. Hoelzel, 90, died October 26, 2017 in Parker Adventist Hospital, Parker, Colorado.
Walter was born in Methuen, MA, on April 13, 1927. He graduated from Edward F. Searles High School in Methuen on June 14, 1945, and served in the Army with the German occupation forces at the end of World War II. On May 12, 1951, he married Alice C. Solari. He worked as a cook, carpenter, and truck driver, but enjoyed building things; he built a cottage on Hi-Land Lake in Michigan, and an earth sheltered house in Woodland Park, Colorado.
He lived his life in Massachusetts, Michigan, Colorado, and Arizona. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Alice C. Hoelzel; daughter, Patricia L. (Hoelzel) Brady; sons, Michael L. Hoelzel and Allan S. Hoelzel; brother, Robert G. Hoelzel; 5 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be missed.
