Wallace Kent Mount

October 1, 1940 — March 28, 2024

Broomfield, Colorado

Kent was born in Denver ,Colorado and graduated from South High School in 1958. With his eye on the military, he was accepted into The Citadel College of South Carolina and earned his degree in 1962 and entered the Army as Lieutenant and served in Vietnam until 1966.

As a civilian Kent went on to work for the government in Washington D.C. for several years. In 1989 he was getting restless and wanting to own his own business, Kent along with Ron Aragon bought what was eventually named The Aspen Leaf Motel in Salida, Colorado. After a lot of hard work and long days and nights of remodeling and creating an award winning landscape design featured in magazines, Kent and Ron had built their business to the point he was ready to sell the motel and begin the next phase of his career.

He unfortunately lost Ron in February of 1995.

Always being one to constantly move forward and never look back, he accepted a new position with the State of Colorado on the board licensing Pharmacist, Veterinary and Optometry until he retired in 1998 and started to enjoy the good life.

Wallace (Kent) Mount lived life to the fullest. He loved to laugh and enjoyed the daily crossword puzzle, reading a good book, play Trivia pursuit, Scrabble and the occasional Mexican Train dominoes.

Scottish Terriers ruled his world, always having to have one by his side or wherever they decided to be. Kent loved all animals from bugs on up. He wasn't a big fan of cats and let's leave it at that.

He loved Mexico and it's people, where he spent his winters in Puerto Vallarta  away from the cold weather of his summer home in Colorado.

Kent had a big and infectious laugh. He was always happy and always ready to discuss any topic you might want to discuss with a breadth of knowledge. Especially politics. He was well informed to say the least.

He was the life of the party without wanting to be and didn't recognize it. People loved to be with him to just have a good time, make nasty remarks and make good memories. To know Kent was to love him.

Kent leaves behind his Sister Meredith (Sage) Mount and his two nieces, Lorrie (Kenny ) Coté, Julie(Jeff) Lauke, his Great niece Anya and great nephew Luca. He also leaves behind many friends who loved him and miss him dearly. Last but not least, he leaves behind his partner of 29 years, Bob Galasso who he owned a home with in Broomfield, Colorado and Scruffy Mcghee, his beautiful Scottie.

May he rest in peace and live within us.
