Von served in the Army from 1959-1961 as a Military Police officer at Fitzsimmons in Aurora, Colorado. He earned several rifle and pistol awards, and a Metal of Good Conduct.
He was the owner of Metro Machine Tool. He worked in the machine tool business for 60 years, in Texas and Colorado.
Von was an avid gardener. He loved flowers and working in his yard, and what a beautiful yard he had.
Survived by his wife Rosita Hairgrove McCelvey of 60 years, daughter Terry McCelvey of Northglenn, Colorado, son Mark McCelvey of Hawaii, and granddaughter Rebecca Rose Holt of Northglenn, Colorado.
Preceded in death by his parents, Sloan and Novelia Robinson McCelvey of Lubbock, Texas, sister Betty Jean Worley of Lubbock, Texas and a nephew, Brady Worley of Lubbock, Texas.
Von will be placed at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
