Virginia Cordova

January 16, 1946 — August 1, 2020

Virginia (Virgie) Cordova, 74, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away in her home on August 1, 2020, after a long battle with declining health.  She was born January 16, 1946 to parents Perfecto and Mary Cordova in Belen, NM. Virginia is survived by her sons Freeman Rick Palmer and wife Jennifer, Steve Palmer and wife Amy both of Albuquerque, NM, and daughter Molly Meier-Grolman and husband Joseph of Spokane, WA ., six grandchildren Chelsea Palmer, Cadence Meier-Grolman, Alexander Meier-Grolman, Steve Palmer Jr., Gavin Palmer, and Jaxon Palmer.  Siblings, Tommy Cordova, Andrew Cordova, and Josie Jaramillo.  In addition to many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Her parents, numerous siblings, many relatives and friends that were near to her heart preceded her in death.

Virginia was a devout follower of Jehovah and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses High Desert Congregation. She enjoyed sharing her beliefs and had a positive outlook on life. After losing her parents at the young age of 16, she immediately found herself married and the caretaker of her younger brother Andrew, and her new baby boy, Rick.  She quickly realized that her mission in life was to care for others.  Throughout the years, she became the glue that held her family together.  Her kind, caring, pure heart allowed her to see the best in everyone and held so many aches, pains, woes, and troubles, many not of her own.  Later in life, she once again found herself starting anew with a fresh career and child to raise alone.  Her spirit, zeal, and determination coupled with her ever-forgiving heart allowed her to flourish.  Despite many trials and tribulations, she endured.  She became an example to all and a light to the paths of those that needed a kind word, a warm meal, a place to lay their head, a listening ear, encouragement, compassion, a companion, a friend, or simply someone to love them.  She struggled with her own trials and tribulations, health issues, pain, fear, and loneliness.

Despite her difficulties, she did not complain.  She made herself available, she cared, and she loved.  Her heart was large enough to hold all of the waters in the sea, her light was as bright as the sun, and her smile was more beautiful than anyone could put into words.  Her infectious laugh and stunning eyes had a way of making any difficult period seem worlds away.  Her loving hugs and motherly kisses could sooth the most painful heartache.  Her kindness was unique to her and her alone.  She loved like no other, trusted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. She taught us to endure, live selflessly,  share in moments of need, always remain faithful, value each other, respect everyone, hold tight to your values, give sincerely, work hard, enjoy life, celebrate accomplishments, be humble, treasure this gift of life, pray, and above all love with your whole heart. Another can never fill the emptiness left in our hearts.  We miss her dearly and we know she would want us to move on with love in our hearts.

A memorial service for Virginia will be held via Zoom on Saturday, August 29, 2020 promptly at 11:00 AM.  The family will host a potluck gathering immediately following at Steve’s home in Albuquerque.  The family asks that you join them to celebrate her life, share stories and memories, and enjoy each other’s fellowship.  They are requesting that if possible visitors wear casual dress in any shade of green to celebrate Virginia’s favorite color and remain comfortable.  In addition, flowers will be received at 6612 Mesa Antigua Pl NW, Albuquerque NM 87120.  Please feel free to contact Steve at 505-452-6243 or Amy at 505-506-8072 with questions.
