Verna Richmeier

Verna Jean Richmeier, 78 passed away March 23, 2014, at Covenant Village in Westminster, Colorado.

Verna Jean Boyle Richmeier was born to Zelma Baker Boyle and Vern Boyle on July 1, 1935, in Olmitz, Kansas. Verna graduated from Hoisington High School in 1953. Verna married Francis Frank Henry Richmeier on January 24, 1956, at St Rose Catholic Church in Great Bend, Kansas.

After marrying, Verna and Frank lived in Hutchinson, Kansas where Verna was a homemaker and mother. Verna and Frank became the parents of two daughters, Janet Marie in October, 1956 and Judy Ann in January, 1959. They moved to Denver, Colorado in 1961. A son, James William was born in July, 1962. In Colorado, they lived in Lakewood, Littleton, and Golden, retiring in Mountain Home, Arkansas. In 1998, they moved back to Canon City, Colorado; their final residence was Covenant Village in Westminster, Colorado.

Verna received her Registered Nursing Degree from Community College of Denver in 1971. She practiced at Lutheran Medical Center and Swedish Medical Center. Verna, later worked at Adolph Coors Brewery in Golden, Colorado.

Verna is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank; two daughters, Janet Richmeier of Tucson, Arizona and Judy Richmeier-Harney Frank of Louisville, Colorado; and a son, James Richmeier of Aurora, Colorado; three grandchildren, Jacob William Richmeier, Bridgett MaryAnne Harney, Bernadette Regina Harney; and one great grandchild, Avery Marie Richmeier. She is also survived by three brothers, Raymond Boyle of Arvada, Colorado, John Boyle of Ft Worth, Texas, and Robert Boyle of Hoisington, Kansas; three sisters, Patsy Sullivan of Bixby, Oklahoma, Linda Wulf of Commerce City, Colorado, and Martha Oetkin of Hoisington, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna May Willis.

Verna enjoyed hand and machine sewing, researching her family genealogy, studying the Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was very proud of her first great grandchild.
