With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Timothy Lloyd Mestepey, age 72. Tim died at The Collier Hospice at Lutheran Medical Center on August 1, 2021 at 5:58am surrounded by family.
He was born in Denver, Colorado on July 18, 1949. He lived in the Denver Metro area throughout his life and was proud to be a native of beautiful Colorado. He served in the US Navy as a flight technician from August 1967 until he was honorably discharged in May 1971. Tim earned a National Defense Service Medal for his service. He worked as a phone systems technician starting with Mountain Bell in 1972 and retired at the age of 51 from Lucent Technologies.
He died from pulmonary disease due to years of caring for his homing pigeons. Caring for and racing his birds was his greatest hobby. Tim also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, woodworking, spending time with friends and family and watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his daughter, Nicole and her husband, Andrew Haas, and their children, Mikaela (age 17) and Jake (age 16). He is also survived by his brother, Jim Mestepey, his sister Pat Hanson and their families. He is also survived by many, many loyal and dear friends.
A memorial celebration of Tim’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend the open house from 5pm-9pm at his favorite golf course, Legacy Ridge- 10801 Legacy Ridge Pkwy, Westminster, CO 80031. We look forward to your attendance to share Tim’s celebration of life! He was well loved and will be missed by many.
