Thomas Rieland

Thomas L Rieland, 69, passed away peacefully at home with his family surrounding him. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Mildred Rieland, of Mankato MN, and by his grandson Landen (Sarah), of Albuquerque NM. Thomas is survived by his four children Merritt (Dana) of Phoenix, AZ. Matthew of Santa Fe, NM. Sarah of Albuquerque, NM, and Thomas J. (Reagan) of Santa Fe, NM. Four grandchildren Aiden (Sarah), Ava (Merritt), Stasia (Merritt), and Sloane (Thomas J), as well as his wife of 40 years Maura Rieland, of Albuquerque, NM. His sisters Mary (Bill) Maine of Deerwood, MN, Kathryn Rieland of Mankato, MN, his brother Gary Zachow of North Mankato, MN, and many other family members and friends.
Thomas was born November 14, 1952, in Minneapolis, MN. Thomas was a graduate of Mankato State University and the first of his family to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Thomas started his first business, American Pest, Health, Fire and Safety in Mankato, MN in 1982. Four years later, Thomas purchased Roy's Pest Control and Tree Service and moved his family to Santa Fe, NM, where he resided for the rest of his life.
Thomas was an entrepreneur and an avid traveler which led him to begin an international coffee and spice importing company, Pulido Imports. He was loved by many of the clients whom he served in Santa Fe and enjoyed learning about them and their families, as well as sharing stories about his own. Thomas was a wonderful father to his children and loved watching their various accomplishments throughout his life. Thomas was the President of the New Mexico Pest Control Association for many years and sat on Boards for various causes. Thomas volunteered his time coaching his sons in AABC Baseball and was an Assistant Coach at Capital High School for several years. He took pride in his beach time, pets, coin collection, art, books, and his beloved Minnesota Vikings. His only disappointment was never seeing the Vikings win a Super Bowl.
Services for Thomas will be closed and will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to The Food Bank as Thomas understood and was deeply concerned about helping ensure parents were able to provide food for their children.

The Family of Thomas Rieland has entrusted the care of their loved one to Avista Cremation & Burial "where healing begins".
