Thea Nicole Swanson, 32, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away Monday, October 6, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 8, 1981, to Don and Lin Swanson. Thea graduated from Prairie High School and attended Kirkwood Community College and Metropolitan State University of Denver. Thea loved working with children. She was a nanny for seven years to her nephews, worked at a Auraria Early Learning Center in downtown Denver, and tutored elementary students. From running half marathons and hiking 14's to volunteering her time with Habitat For Humanity, Denver Art Museum, and mentoring at-risk families, this inspiring young lady was sharing her passion for life. Thea is survived by her parents, Don and Lin Swanson, sister and brother-in-law, Emilee and Toso Chavez, and her nephews, TJ, Chase, and Gage Chavez. Her wonderful spirit, joy, and talents will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18. The 2:00 PM memorial service will be held at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 South Datura St., Littleton, Colorado. A reception celebrating Thea's life will follow the memorial service at the church.
