Terry Morphew, of Lakewood, Colorado went to be with the Lord after a three-year battle with cancer on August 6, 2018, at 80 years old. Born Terry Donne Hillmer, to Armin and Clare Wilk Hillmer, in Kansas City, Kansas on August 17, 1937, she is a proud graduate of the original Shawnee Mission High School class of 1955. She received an associates degree from St. John's College, in Winfield, Kansas, but was always happy to cheer for the KU Jayhawks. Terry met and married Gordon Arthur Morphew on May 31,1959 in Kansas City. She worked as a flight attendant for TWA until she became pregnant with their first child. Mother to Todd and Tracy, Terry was a homemaker once her children were born. The family started attending at St Philip & St James church, which Terry would continue to attend for the next 48 years. Her favorite dog breed was miniature schnauzers, and she owned four of them in succession, over the next 25 years. After the sudden death of her husband in 1978, Terry began her retail career, working at Joslins and selling Mary Kay Cosmetics, which she sold for almost 40 years. She happily volunteered at the Central City Opera Guild, and was a member of Pinehurst Country club, where she played tennis. She was Baskin Robins Ice Cream's number one fan- originally of their pralines and cream flavor, but eventually switching to Jamoca almond fudge. She enjoyed years of bridge games with sweet friends, associations with Clipped Wings for retired flight attendants and her "sports club", various bible study groups, and a newfound love of Zumba dancing in her later years, which introduced her to new, special friends. She fiercely battled her cancer diagnosis for three years, and was so blessed by the care and treatment of those at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, and the prayers and love from family and friends.
Terry is lovingly remembered by her two children, Todd and Tracy, her son-in-law, Steve, her three grandchildren, Molly (Colin), Matt, and Emily, her brother, Reid Hillmer, her sister-in-law, Jean, and her nieces and nephews, Eric, Emma, Mark, and Paul, her brother-in-law Rodger Morphew, and her nieces Stacie, Lori, and Kristen.
A Funeral Service in memory of Terry will be held on Friday August 10th at 10:00 am, at St. Philip & St. James Episcopal Church, 2797 S Lowell Blvd, Denver, 80236.
