Terry Keener

May 11, 1943 — July 7, 2014

We are sorry to say goodbye to Terry Keener, age 71, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Terry finished his journey on July 7, 2014, in Westminster, Colorado, after a four-month battle with cancer. He was attended by his loving wife Diana L. (Jackson) Keener at his passing. Diana and Terry celebrated their 47th anniversary in May, and were dedicated soul mates.

Terry is also survived by his two daughters Tammy Newsom with her son Forrest Newsom, and Robin Koebbering with her husband Chris Koebberling and two sons Alexander Stern and Thomas Koebberling. His extended family includes his two brothers Noel Keener with his wife Carolyn, and Gary Keener with his wife Evelyn, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Merle and Mildred Keener.

Terry was born on May 11, 1943 in Germantown, Ohio. He is the youngest of twin boys (Gary), and grew up on the family farm. After graduating from Farmersville High School in 1961, he graduated from Sinclair Community College with an associate's degree in electrical engineering, and then attended Ohio State University.

Work was a vital part of Terry's life. Among his employers was the Dupps Company in Germantown, Ohio, Clark Electric in Hastings, Nebraska, and Empire Electric in Broomsfield, Colorado. He last worked at Empire Electric as an electrical estimator.

Terry was passionate about traveling, tinkering and Louis L'Amour. He gave more of himself than he ever asked of anyone, and never knew a stranger. Terry was equally fond of figuring out life's mysteries and working on projects around their Westminster, Colorado home.

In lieu of flowers, Terry's family kindly requests donations be made to Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The dedicated and caring staff made his last month a peaceful, calm experience, and assisted his family with true compassion during this most difficult time.

The family wishes to thank the entire Collier staff, the pastor and deacon of Trinity Presbyterian Church, the devoted friends who visited Terry during his convalescence, and the family near and far who supported him. Your sacrifices made him feel loved and blessed, and the family is most grateful to you.

Remember to hold those you love close, because you never know what tomorrow may bring.

After the services at Slifer's Presbyterian Chrurch, everyone who wants to stay after to reminiscence about Dad should bring a dish to share for a carry-on meal.
