Sylvester Dean Leer, 85, died Friday, September 29, 2017 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Sye is survived my his daughter Lisa Leer-Stefhon and son-in-law Patrick Stefhon, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Lincoln and Mona Leer of Scottsdale, Arizona; Darlene Leer of Bismarck, North Dakota; David and Joan Leer of Bismarck, North Dakota, Patsy Leer of Minot, North Dakota, Jeanne Leer of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Stewart Leer, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his parents Gilmund and Gay Leer of Bismarck, North Dakota; his brothers Jerome Leer and Eugene Leer of Bismarck, North Dakota and Burdette Leer of Burnsville, Minnesota.
He was born on May 11, 1932 in Hettinger, North Dakota to Gilmund and Gay Leer. In1959 he married Lois Marie Stewart in Bismarck, North Dakota. Together they raised their daughter Lisa. Sye worked as an accountant for over 50 years. He found his work with the New Mexico Life Insurance Guarantee Association to be the most rewarding of his career. Sye was a great family man and loving father. Sye was a social, active man who was deeply involved in the Lutheran Church for the majority of his life. He was a proud alumnus of the University of North Dakota.
Memorial services will be privately held.
