SUSAN POE

April 22, 1947 – February 16, 2019

(From an obituary Susan wrote for herself years before her passing)

Where I was born and where and how I have lived is unimportant.  It is what I have done with where I have been that should be of interest.   – Georgia O’Keeffe

Beadwork is a medium I use to make beautiful sense out of the chaos I live in.  Without it I would only be a crazed part of the chaos world.  I try to bring to it a contemporary sense and my own interpretation of the beauty surrounding me.

I have been living and doing beadwork in the Southwest for the past twenty years.  I am self-taught and use only the highest quality materials. My work has been sold in fairs, galleries and designer shops in Santa Fe, Austin, San Diego and Aspen, and was included in a special 1982 Santa Fe show at Lord & Taylor in New York.  I have done custom pieces for movie stars, rock musicians, Dallas socialites and Indian artists. With the proper amount of time, materials, money and concern, I can bead just about anything.

Susan is lovingly remembered by her son Dakota Fitzner, her granddaughters Alexandria Q. Lujan and Pharrah  F. Fitzner, and her sisters Sandra Branick and Margey Bodine.

The Family of Susan Poe has entrusted the care of their beloved one to Avista Cremation & Burial.
