Susan Miller

September 14, 1961 — April 14, 2022

Englewood

Susan Amy Miller of Englewood, Colorado passed away peacefully on April 14, 2022 from post-surgical complications. Susan was a bright light in the world and a breath of fresh air. She will be missed immensely.

Susan Amy Miller was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on September 14, 1961 to Howard and Ruth Miller. As a young child, she and her family moved to Durango, Colorado. She attended Durango High School, where she explored her love of journalism and theater.  Susan then attended Fort Lewis College where she was Student Body President and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Communications. Post-grad, Susan moved to the Englewood, Denver area, where she lived until her death and spent more than 30 years in the telecommunications industry as a successful and respected human resources manager.

Susan was known for her wit and intelligence and brought laughter to almost every conversation. She loved a good pun and had a great sense of humor. She would often say with conviction what many others only dared to think, and she also had an open mind willing to learn and explore new perspectives. Susan was a generous and thoughtful soul, who loved people and animals alike, and advocated for their rights and wellbeing in many ways. Susan was an avid jewelry and shoe collector, and loved trying out new skincare and beauty products. She enjoyed trips to wine country and spending time with her friends and family, often in wine country or at least with wine. Susan was well read and enjoyed daily word games, crossword puzzles, and knitting.

Susan was a proud sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt, and cat mom. She loved her family and friends immensely and took no delay in telling them on a regular basis.

Susan is survived by her cats Finnegan and Phyllis, sisters Judy (David) Ranheim and Sheila Osuch, nephews Luther (Michelle) Ranheim and Bjorn (Dorie) Ranheim, and nieces Deena (Ron) Thurston and Tania (Matthew) Brick, as well as many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth Miller, and brothers, Mack Miller and Stephen Miller.

There will be a celebration of Susan’s life on June 11th in the Englewood, Denver region. More details will be announced on Susan’s Facebook profile.
