Steven Neal Benda

Steven Neal Benda, 65 of Thornton, Colorado, passed away on June 17, 2023. 

Steve was born on November 12, 1957 in Waukegan, Illinois. At the age of 18 he left Illinois and moved to Colorado where he met  Rebecca Balzano and her son Jason Sutton. The two of them were married for 30 years and share a daughter, Gina Rogge (Benda). 

Steve absolutely loved being a father and grandfather. He doted on his grandchildren and spent most of his free time with them. 

He was an avid sports fan and was always rooting for the Colorado sports teams. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball, basketball, going camping, gambling in Blackhawk and taking long motorcycle rides. 

Steve had the best personality and outlook on life. He was always singing, dancing and making others laugh. He made a huge impression on all those that met him and he was always willing to lend a hand if someone needed help. 

Steve is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Gina and Brian Rogge and their two children, Kellen Rogge and Sloane Rogge. Stepson Jason Sutton and his wife Heather Sutton and his two daughters Kailey Sutton and Lacie Sutton and step daughter Miranda Haradon. His sisters: Sandy Walkanoff, Leta Markadonis and Valerie Hudson-Rice. His brothers: Damon Hudson and James Hudson. 

Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 am at Mead United Methodist Church, 501 Palmer Avenue, Mead, CO 80542, immediately followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 pm at Brookeside Gardens, 619 E. County Rd. 8, Berthoud, CO 80513. 

The family requests that in lieu of flowers all notes, cards and donations be brought to the celebration of life or sent to 518 E. Michigan Ave. Berthoud, CO, 80513.
