Steve Konda

Steve Konda, 66, of Bailey, Colorado passed away on Tuesday March 29, 2016 in Denver, Colorado.

Steve was born on September 25, 1949 in Dodge City, KS to Vivian and Edward Konda. Steve was the second of six children born to the couple. He graduated from St. Mary of the Plains in 1968. On May 22, 1971, he married Twila Younger in Garden City, KS. The couple had three sons; Kurt, Kyler, and Kelly. In 1982, Steve met Richard Pierce and they remained together for 34 years, and married on November 21, 2014.

Steve and Richard moved to Colorado in 1988 where Steve was a Regional Human Resources Manager for Bed, Bath & Beyond. Steve loved to play the piano and be with his family and friends. He was a member of the St. Laurence Episcopal Church of Conifer, CO.

Survivors include his spouse, Richard Pierce, of Bailey, CO. His sons Kurt Konda and wife Kasey, Kyler Konda, and Kelly Konda, all of Wichita, KS,; Wayne Piece and wife Michelle Long-Pierce of Parker, CO,; and Michael Pierce of Denver, CO. His four brothers, Michael Konda, of Bucklin, KS,; Martin Konda and wife Sharon, Virgil Konda and wife Dana, all of Spearville, KS,; Tracy Konda and wife Casey, of Topeka, KS. His six grandchildren, Kameron and Karleigh Konda, of Wichita, KS,; Jackson and Kennedy Pierce of Denver, CO,; Kayley and Taron Rueger of Parker, CO. Close family friends Tamara Dubnansky, of Bucklin, KS, and Kirsten Peterson, of Bailey, CO. As well as numerous loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Konda; his father, Edward Konda; his sister, Trudy Blackford; and his sister-in-law Jody Konda.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Conifer, CO on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 2:00 in the afternoon, with Pastor Nancy Malloy presiding. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Como Cemetery.
