"Say you can and you will" were the words that you often heard Stephen Petrucci, 68, proclaim, even through his final days with us. We are truly heartbroken to have lost Steve, who vehemently fought a four year battle with stage 4 cancer.
Steve Petrucci, was born in December, 1951 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the third child of Gerard and Peggy Petrucci. He excelled at school and sports throughout his childhood. He attended Loy Norrix High School and was a three sport athlete in baseball, football, and swimming. After high school, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1973 with a BBA, where he played football during his freshman year. At Notre Dame he met his wife, Nannette Nugent, and they married in1973. Steve began his career in sales for the Upjohn Company, living in both Minnesota and Kalamazoo, Michigan, where his first daughter, Angela, was born and where he received his MBA from Western Michigan University. His education did not stop there, as he moved his family to Colorado in 1978 to attend law school at the University of Denver, graduating in 1980. During their time in Colorado, they welcomed two sons, Tony (born in 1980) and Matthew (born in 1984). He practiced law in a variety of settings, including in house at the University hospitals, Martin Marietta and Lear Sigler and in private practice where he was a partner at Burg, Aspinwall and Petrucci and at Petrucci and Burke. Steve was also very excited to represent athletes and went on to a varied law career as well as many entrepreneurial adventures.
Outside of business, Steve was a family man and loved to coach sports for his two sons and their friends. He was affectionately known for his strong personality, great charisma and sense of humor as well as his undying optimism. A die hard road warrior, Steve loved both the ocean and the mountains, and truly enjoyed his brief time living in California where he and Nan watched their youngest son Matt play college baseball.
He is survived by his wife Nan and his beloved three children Angela Petrucci, Tony Petrucci and Matthew Petrucci, Matthew's wife Samantha, and his grandson Vincent who was welcomed into this world this past December. He is also survived by his three siblings Jeff Petrucci, Kim Petrucci, and Terri Petrucci-Coley.
