Stella Mcryhew

Stella Marie McRyhew, age 83 passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2017 in Denver, CO. She was born on October 8, 1933 in Raton, NM. She graduated from Trinidad High School in 1951. Stella grew up in Trinidad, CO. Stella married Virgil McRyhew Sr. in 1952 in Ft. Worth, Texas. They were happily married for 28 years until Virgil's passing in 1980. Stella was the mother of four children Jerry, Virgil Jr., Sherry, and John. She went on to graduate from Metro State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Childhood Education. She loved teaching bilingual education for Adams County Head-start for many years. Some of her favorite things to do were camping and fishing in the Colorado mountains, reading books and gambling in Blackhawk, and Central City, CO. She also enjoyed spending her time with her many grandkids. Stella is survived by longtime love and partner John Sanchez; her daughter Sherry (Don) Andrews, and son John (Kathy) McRyhew; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister Lucy, twin brother Carlos, youngest brother Benjamin; and many nieces and nephews. Stella was preceded in death by her husband Virgil Sr.; sons Jerry and Virgil Jr.; and her three sisters Agnes, Josephine, and Margaret. A Funeral service will be held at Cremation Society of Colorado 3020 Federal Blvd. Denver, CO. 80211. Interment will be at Ft. Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
