Friends and family are grief stricken with the sudden loss of Shields Hart Curkendall on Monday, March 13th, in a tragic car accident. Shields, also known as "Shelly" by longtime friends, was 48 years old. He was born on July 26, 1968 in Richfield, Connecticut, and made Denver, Colorado his home for the last 25 years. Shields enjoyed hiking, skiing, road trips and spending time with his family. Shields was intelligent, and blessed with a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Suman Koshy, as well as their two daughters Marignane(Kre) & Kerala(Lala) Curkendall. His daughters were his greatest joy. Additional survivors include his parents, Gerald and Ethel Curkendall; his sisters Julie and Suellen Curkendall; his brothers Leland and Steve Curkendall; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 700 S. Franklin Street, Denver, Colorado 80209. In lieu of flowers, a GOFUNDME account has been set up under the Curkendall Family to aid the family with funeral expenses and continued education expenses for Kerala, age 11, and Kre, age 19.
