Sheryl Roark

On Tuesday, June 9th, 2020, Sheryl Kaye Mortensen Roark passed away at age 64.

Sherry was born in Denver, Colorado to Noland McRay Mortensen and Kathleen Elizabeth Goddard on February 13th, 1956. She attended Holy Family high school and joined the Army on Halloween 1978. She married James Roark in 1980 and they had 3 daughters, Dianna, Jamie and Jennifer. They were divorced in 1987. Sherry loved deeply and remained devoted to her girls and her granddaughter, Summer Rose.

Perhaps Sherry's greatest legacy is her devotion to her family's genealogy. She researched and acquired the providence of centuries of information detailing the lives of extended family reaching as far back as 600 AD. She shared this information with all and had been looking forward to a trip to Ireland where she was to share that body of work with the entire clan at a reunion this July. Unfortunately, the reunion was postponed due to the COVID19 virus. This was a huge disappointment to Sherry, - but she had already begun to see what she could add to the documentation before next year when was rescheduled.

Her daughter Dianna and her father, Noland Mortensen, preceded Sherry in death. She is survived by her two daughters - Jamie (Drew) and Jennifer Roark, her granddaughter Summer Rose Brassfield, her Mother Kathleen Mortensen, and two sisters, Terry (James) Walker and Karen (Brian) Wages.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be considered for ‘Paws on the Ground Colorado' or the Jeffco Action Center.
