Shaun Michael Cox “Homie” passed away unexpectedly on June 22nd, 2023. Shaun was born in Osmond Nebraska on August 16th, 1977. He was only 45 years old. He resided in Mount Juliet, TN until his untimely death. His family and friends are heartbroken by his sudden passing.
He is survived by his wife Shannan, stepdaughter Kendall, mother Cherrie, and sisters Becky, Gina, and Holly, and lastly a band of brothers that are affectionately called “The Cedar Creek Crew.” He was predeceased by his father Earl and grandparents Marion and Marilyn.
Shaun moved to Mount Juliet on Cedar Creek Drive in 1989 when he was 12. He attended Mount Juliet Schools, where he found a close circle of friends that remain to this day. Shaun had an infectious personality and willingness to help anyone with anything. He would truly give you the shirt off his back without thinking twice. He loved hunting and fishing with his friends. He was always part of, and often planned hunting trips for everyone to Arkansas and Ohio. His passion was for being at the Land Between the Lakes Recreation area in Northern Tennessee/Kentucky. From the time Shaun was old enough to drive, he and his close friends were taking deer hunting trips to LBL, staying in the middle of nowhere at what we affectionately called “Old Camp”. Shaun absolutely loved anything that had to do with being in the woods. He was very much in tune with nature and had a distinctive gift for finding wild game that was one in a million. He would often be driving down a dirt road far from civilization, stopping out of the blue, only to jump out and say, “Here is where we need to be hunting”, he was always right.
Shaun worked remodeling houses. He was very talented in all aspects of building. To say he was a “Jack of all Trades” would be an understatement. He could do anything, but that is not what made him so good. When Shaun was working on something, he treated it as if it was his own. He wanted it to be the best. He used his creativity and skill to build the most beautiful things. Shaun cared about everything he did, his customers could easily see this, and that was what made him so good.
Everyone who knew Shaun loved him. To his close circle of friends, he was not just a friend, he was family. He shared the good times with us like Christmases, Thanksgivings, birthdays, but Shaun was also there for everyone in the bad times when we all needed each other the most.
Most people go through this life lucky to have one best friend. Homie was that best friend to all of us equally. We, his brothers, do not know what we will do without him, but we will continue to carry all the memories we were lucky enough to share with Homie, for the rest of our days.
A celebration of life will be held on July 23rd from 3pm to 5pm. It will be held at Cahoots at 427 S College St, Lebanon, TN 37087.
