Sharon Miller

October 30, 1936 — December 28, 2021

Broomfield

Sharon Lee Hitchcock Miller, 85, of Broomfield, CO, passed away on Tuesday December 28, 2021 with her two eldest daughters by her side.

Sharon was born in Ashland, WI, on October 30, 1936, to Garth Almoran Hitchcock and Genevieve Minerva (Ferguson) Hitchcock and spent part of her childhood in Stillwater, MN. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines, IA and married Jerry George Miller on January 19, 1958 in Des Moines, IA, where they lived.  They eventually settled down to raise a family in Ankeny, IA before moving to the Denver metropolitan area in the early 1980s.  For most of her career, Sharon was employed with the Bell Telephone Company.

Sharon was a person that was easy to like.  Her openminded nature and non-judgmental ways put others at ease.  She was kind, compassionate, honest, and forgiving.  Her interests were many.  She was an avid reader, appreciated the music of Neil Diamond, and enjoyed the artwork of Claude Monet.  Sharon loved to travel and had visited all 50 states.  She was once in a bowling league, enjoyed playing board or card games, and had the most beautiful and distinctive penmanship.  Her family was important to her and she was always there when anyone needed her.  In fact, several friends of the Miller children viewed her as a second mother.

Sharon is survived by her children Kim (Kim, Cassie, and Chloe), Lori (Tim) Fogarty, Mike (Bob), Cheryl (Renita), and Kerry (Jenny); nephew David Wenner (Cindy and Brandon); adopted daughters Kim Grove (Tom) and Claire Estella de Castro; and grandchildren Meghan, Sam (Mahaley), Brooke, and Rylie.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her father Garth, and her mother Genevieve.

Sharon was a survivor of three different types of cancer.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be held in early June 2022.
