Scott S. Swanson, 62, passed away July 24, 2019, at his home in Denver.
Scott was the son of late parents Lucille Krenk Swanson and LaVerne Swanson. Born into an Air Force family, he grew up in Oregon, Hawaii and Colorado. He then lived in New York and Florida before settling in Denver more than twenty years ago.
He graduated from William Mitchell High School in Colorado Springs and attended University of Colorado, Boulder. Scott pursued several careers, such as sous chef, certified massage therapist and client representative at financial firms, including First Franklin Financial and TIAA-CREF.
As a young man, Scott practiced Aikido and other martial arts. His lifelong passion, though, was playing the drums. He was a drummer in two rock bands in the 1980s, performing extensively in New York. He played drums nearly every day of his life. He was devoted to his mother's well-being until her death. Scott was thoughtful, helpful and inquisitive. He relished good conversations with friends, reading, sharing his dry sense of humor and listening to many styles of music.
Scott will be deeply missed by sister Cynthia Swanson of Harrisburg, PA and by Lil Anderson of Seattle, WA, a sister that he was happy to discover and know these last ten years.
There will be no memorial service. Friends are invited to sign the guest book and share memories below or donate to a Humane Society or Cat Care Society of Denver in Scott's memory.
