Sarah Elizabeth Diem, 25, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went home to the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday October 10 following a short illness. a.k.a. Sarah Bob, was wholly devoted to her family and friends. A remarkably talented and dedicated young lady with a heart bigger than the galaxy. Eternally loved, forever missed, and will always be cherished.
From early childhood Sarah was exceptional in all her endeavors. In academics, athletics and creatively through music. She was a versed in playing the viola, acoustic and electric bass guitars and the piano. Her love for music exhibited through many years of playing instruments, performing in and going to concerts along with being a member of a rock/alternative band she and other music enthusiasts and friends formed in high school
In 2012, Sarah graduated from Manzano High School with honors. Later, she graduated with honors from Central New Mexico college with Associate degrees in business and accounting. Sarah enjoyed traveling both within the United States as well as Mexico. From grade school on, Sarah was a member of the Juan Tabo Community of Christ and especially enjoyed participating in the summer camps.
For several years Sarah played basketball as well as volleyball. She was a loyal and passionate Detroit Sports team fan including the Lions for football, Pistons for basketball and Redwings for hockey.
Sarah had a reputation for a gentle, compassionate kind heart and never hesitating to help family and friends alike. She was hardworking, reliable and an employee that her bosses unequivocally stated they could always count on. Her most recent position for many years was in restaurant management working for Twisters Restaurants.
Those who knew Sarah well knew how much family meant to her. Her closeness to sister Kate was unwavering. Cousins Rhianna and Alison Diem were more like sisters and cousins Patrick, Sean and Liam Barrett were long distance best friends. Sarah’s love for both surviving grandmothers; Maureen Barrett of Luray, VA and Margaret Diem of Albuquerque, NM was undeniable. She enjoyed being with family which included many cousins, uncles and aunts from Michigan to Virginia and New Mexico.
Sarah knew how to light up and room. She brightened the lives of all who knew this special young lady. Sarah had a witty sense of humor and loved to laugh. In such a short 25-year life Sarah touched many, many lives. The more than two hundred who attended her memorial service certainly attested to that.
Though we cannot believe that you are gone you will always be with us in the many ways you touched our hearts and our lives.
