Sam and his life Partner Father Scott West enjoyed fishing in the mountains, and going to Disney land. He and Scott enjoyed travelling and the Broncos, and together they were able to see the Broncos with John Elway win the Super Bowl. He rose from poverty to work in the Banking industry. He was a fighter too, having had three bouts with cancer and a quadruple heart bypass.
He worked for the original Colorado National Bank as Junior Vice President of Human Resources where he excelled in his work. After his first bout with cancer he became disabled, but went on to work at Alaska Airlines as a baggage handler and finally at Target , where he enjoyed interacting with folks at the checkout.
Sam was known in his neighborhood for his love of gardening, and his popularity with the neighborhood children, especially Joseph Conway.
Sam died at his home, with his entire family present in the Front Range mobile home park where the neighborhood children kept him active.
Sam is missed very deeply by his partner Scott. Sam supported his partner in his ministry from the very beginning, suffered financial hardship to allow Scott to continue his ministry and schooling, and Sam died with God in his heart.
'I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?' , 'Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one coming into the world.'
Although Sam's body is gone, his soul lives on in heaven. He has finished the race, a hero's journey.
