Ruth Marion McCahan, daughter of Norman and Margaret Brandt passed away Monday in Denver, CO. She was a proud resident of Harrisburg, PA until 2006. Ruth spent her last years with her daughters in Kansas City, MO, and Denver, CO. Her wedding anniversary and birthday became the same when she married Robert Alan McCahan. Ruth was a graduate of John Harris High School and attended Harrisburg Area Community College. She was employed by the Harrisburg School District. Ruth was a member of the ABWA and a past worthy matron of the Astro Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. To her grandchildren, she was the "Hershey Park" grandma because of their many trips to Chocolate World with her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her daughter, Trudy Ellen, and a sister, Rosemary Snyder. Ruth, "Grimi" or "Mimi," is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Robert Manning and Laurie and Robert Loughhead. She will be missed by grandchildren: Joshua Manning and wife Darcy; Doug Manning and wife Kristy; Melinda Loughhead; Carissa Loughhead; Margaret Baker and husband Steven. She also enjoyed her five great-grandchildren: Lars Manning, Mariana and Russell Manning, Brooke and Martie Gwendolyn Baker. Five siblings also survive her: Norman Brandt, Jr., James Brandt, Kathryn Wert, Janet Wagner, and Nancy Kauffman.
A private service will be held in Denver, CO. A memorial concert will be held at a future date, and her ashes will be interred at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg, PA.
