Ross Junior Baumgartner was born to David Ross and Elsie Alverta Baumgartner on July 15, 1934 in Columbia, MO. He had four siblings: Dorothy Fae, Mary Ida, James Howard, and Eleanor Baumgartner.
Ross met the love of his life, Charlotte Croy, while they were both Juniors in high school at Kansas City College and Bible School in Overland Park, KS. They knew each other and dated during the final two years of high school until one night, after a dinner date, Ross asked Charlotte to marry him while they sat in the car in front of her house. She said "yes" and Ross immediately went inside to ask for her mother and father's blessing-which he received with enthusiasm!
They actually moved to Colorado before they were married as a result of following her parents, Reverend C.F. and Viola Croy to their new pastorate in Wheat Ridge. They were married on September 6, 1952 in Overland Park, KS because most of their family and friends still lived in the Kansas/Missouri area. Of course, they immediately moved to Colorado and set about the task of building their lives together.
And build it they did! Over the course of their lives in Colorado they built a successful business and produced an even more fruitful family that began just 10 months after their marriage vows were completed with the birth of their first-born son: David Ross Baumgartner III. Duane, Daryl, and Marcia all followed in short order. Their last child-the "Caboose" as Charlotte called her-Michelle was born some 15 years after Marcia.
Ross and Charlotte had the joy of welcoming 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren into the family tree before his peaceful passing in the afternoon of January 1, 2017 surrounded by his children and loved ones.
Ross was a man of God with a passion for sports, Southern gospel music, and his family. He leaves a legacy of faith and enthusiasm for life that will live on in the heart and soul of all who knew him and were blessed to have him in their lives.
Ross was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, his son Duane, his grandson Donald, and his great-granddaughter Madison. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating Ross' life will be held at Pinecrest Community Church, 7165 North Delbert Road, Parker, CO on Saturday January 7th at 3:00 pm. The services may also be viewed via Live Streaming at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdf2-j8O0Ws . A reception for immediate family only will follow the Memorial Service.
The family acknowledges with grateful appreciation your kind expression of sympathy. We request that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Ross' name to the Porter Hospice Foundation (www.rmahf.org/porter-hospice-foundation.html).
