Roger Young

March 19, 1944 — September 24, 2015

Roger Allen Young, 71, was born on March 19, 1944 in Superior, Nebraska to Clifford and Josephine Young and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 24, 2015 in Thornton, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in electrical engineering and worked in Germany, California, Minnesota, Washington D.C., Alabama, and Indiana for various companies in his field until he retired a few years ago from Delphi. One of his favorite assignments was the Apollo 8 project.

He married Rebecca Sue Swedberg on July 29, 1989 in Northglenn, Colorado. Soon after they were married, they moved to Kokomo, Indiana where they settled down, bought a house, and lived most of their married life. They relocated to Denver, Colorado in the past year to be near family after Roger's health began to fail.

As a young man, Roger attended an evangelistic service in Minneapolis and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior. After that, Roger was a member of several Baptist churches and enjoyed assisting his wife, Becky, in a ministry with Child Evangelism Fellowship. He was known for his kindness and honesty which were traits ingrained in him by his mother.

Roger was a lifelong fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, enjoyed gardening, and was much loved by his family and loved spending time with them.

He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Becky, his brothers Bob (Annetta), Gene (Marj), and Gary (Nancy), and numerous nieces and nephews who meant a great deal to him since he had no children.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Calvary Community Baptist Church, 11980 Irma Drive, Northglenn, Colorado 80233. There will be a viewing at the church one hour prior to the service.
