Robert William Reed was born in Manila, Philippines, the fifth child of nine, the youngest of the brothers, he was very special. He started out in this world fighting; he was born with a missing rib. He grew up wearing a body brace that went from his chin down to around his body, covering his whole torso.
Robert withstood bullies that took him for a weak person because of his stature and body brace. Little did the bullies know, that under the brace was a very strong body. Robert had to defend himself at times; he would remove his body brace and leave bodies of injured perpetrators.
He was a black belt in karate, a wrestler in high school, a professional roller skater, an entertainer, can be seen as an extra a in movie and in a country music video, a lover of dancing, a juggler, was a loving husband, and a brother beyond compare.
Robert was as such a sweet guy, so funny and extremely entertaining. He always had stories to tell that seemed so unbelievable - but true. He was an encourager of encouragers; picked you up when you were down. He was an observer and studied others. He was careful with his words, not to offend and may not even defend himself. He let his actions do the talking.
Robert gave his all to everything he tried to the point of our unbelief. He showed us what it meant to give your all, to be the best you can be, with what you have been given.
He went through adversity fighting - as the brace he wore as a child didn't stop him, neither did adversity.
Robert heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. He knew that Christ lived a perfect life, that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day.
Robert received this message with gladness, knowing that when he left this world, he was forgiven and could stand before God covered by the atoning blood of Jesus.
“Jesus said ..., “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,”
John 11:25 ESV
Though we are missing him, the effects of having Robert as a husband, brother, uncle, friend, will not leave us. We are forever blessed by such a gift as Robert.
Robert is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary A. Reed, brothers, Walter, Charles, Eugene Jr., sisters, Annie Reed, Joan Medina, Doris Reed, Nettie Haley, Debbie Serio, nephew, Devin Reed and other nieces and nephews.
