Robert Germain

March 25, 1937 — July 14, 2018

Robert "Bob" Loring Germain was born on March 25, 1937 in Saint Louis, Missouri to James and Myrtle (nee Eakins) Germain. He grew up in Cape Girardeau, Missouri until he was about 7 years old. His family then moved to Haughton, Louisiana, where his father was stationed in the military. As a young man, Bob was a boxer and enjoyed building Harley's with his brother Larry from the ground up. He loved his Harley. Just like his father, Bob also served in the United Stated Air Force for 21 years and 11 months before he retired as a Master Sergeant. In the military he did radio T.V. broadcasting and translated Arabic.

Bob enjoyed woodworking, any kind of mechanics, sewing, bowling - for which he had several awards and trophies for, and was a man of many talents. After he retired from the military, he was employed with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and retired from that occupation as well. Later, became an independent business owner with Amway. In more recent years, Bob went to cosmetology school and owned and operated a hair salon out of his home.

He was a lifetime member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #156, A.F. & A.M., Veteran's of Foreign Wars (VFW), Disabled American Veterans (DAV), The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA), American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS), American Legion, and Smith & Wesson Club 1852.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, James Germain and Myrtle Germain, and his sister, Phyllis Gammel.

He is survived by his children, Victor "Vic" James, Jeffery Wayne; grandchildren, Shanda Lynn, Hunter Key, and Victor Lawrence; two great grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Jackie (Whitey) Anderson, Schy, Larry (Dora) Germain, and David Germain; two nieces and two nephews; and several cousins along with great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service to honor Bob's life will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery - Staging Area B.
