Robert Carty

Robert Dewayne Carty passed away on December 18, 2017. He was born in Reno, Nevada, August 13, 1945 to George Washington Carty and Diane Evelyn Carty (Watts). He married Joyce Jeannette Johnson on October 10, 1964 at the All Faith Chapel, China Lake, California. Joyce preceded him in death after 51 years of marriage.

He is survived by daughter Jeannette Carty Rome of Aurora, Colorado, son Jon Carty of Boulder City, Nevada; grandson Derrick Carty; granddaughters Kahlilah Kilgore and Scarlett Williams. He is also survived by brothers James Carty and Dave Carty and sister Joy Willett.

Bob was a long-time resident of Ridgecrest, graduating from Burroughs high school in 1963. He worked as an electrician and received a service award for 50 years in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Bob had a passion for flying and belonged to several aviation clubs. He was also interested in genealogy, having spent countless hours researching and visiting historical sites. The Sierra Nevada Mountains were very special to Bob as a place where he spent lots of time hunting, fishing and camping with family over the years.

Services will be held at Holland & Lyons Mortuary, 216 S. Norma St., Ridgecrest, California on January 6, 2018 at 10:00 am.
