Rita Anne “Granny” Bragg, 74 of Hermitage, Tennessee passed away on March 23, 2024. The Celebration of Live service will be held on April 13, 2024, at Green Hill Church 13251 Lebanon Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122. Visitation will be from 1 to 2PM and there will be a service held at 2PM. Instead of flowers the family requests a donation to True Rescue animal shelter 12110 Lebanon Rd, Mt. Juliet, TN 37122 in her honor.
Rita was born in Hohenwald, Tennessee on November 9, 1949. She graduated from Lewis County High School in 1966, where she met her future husband, George “Petie” Bragg. Rita played basketball and was a member of the Glee Club in high school.
Rita and George Bragg were married in 1969 and moved to Nashville. In 1971, they had their first child, Sirena. Rita worked as a medical transcriptionist at Metro Nashville General Hospital in the radiology department. In 1978, she had her son, Trent, and her other son Reid in 1979. Rita maintained a career in the medical industry, but her passion lied in her love of crafts and crafting. Rita loved to sew, make scrapbooks, and take pictures of her family. Rita also loved animals especially dogs and was known to support her local animal shelters. Rita was a member of Green Hill Church in Mt. Juliet where she was an active part of their congregation for many years.
After Rita retired, she took on some fun, part-time employment as a tour guide in Nashville with Sharin’ Nashville Tours where she enjoyed sharing her heritage as a Tennessean. Rita loved to cut-up and make jokes, which promoted her success as a tour guide!
Rita is survived by her brother, Clovis Lee Johns and her children, Sirena Wilson, Trent Bragg, Reid Bragg and her granddaughter, Sophie Hall.
Rita is preceded in death by her mother and father, Beulah and Sullivan Johns, her brother, Ricky Johns and her sister, Myra Curry.
Rita will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
