Ricky Dean England, fondly known as "The Flying England," passed away on March 28, 2025, at Horizon Medical Center, after a courageous battle with lung cancer that lasted nearly a year. He was born on August 25, 1958, in Dickson, TN, and marked his arrival into the world as one-half of the first set of twins born at Goodlark Medical Center, alongside his beloved sister, Vicky England Wilmoth.
Throughout his life, Ricky was known not just for his impressive skills as a slaughter man at Holland and Dotson and as an outstanding trim and crown mold carpenter, but also for his incredible sense of humor and heart of gold. He had a natural gift for making those around him smile, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Ricky's love for animals, especially dogs, showcased his gentle spirit and kindness toward all. But he was also known for being very stubborn and hard headed.
His legacy is carried on by his daughter, Amber England Powell, who cherishes the fond memories of fishing trips, horseshoe tournaments, the tough but also gentle love her father showed, and the way her father proudly introduced her as "daddy's little boy." Along with Amber, his family includes son-in-law Jonathan Daniel Powell, twin sister Vicky England Wilmoth, brother William Bryan England Jr., and grandsons Dalten James Thacker and Jacob Dean Thacker.
Ricky's passion for playing horseshoes and pool was matched only by the joy he found in life's simple pleasures. He spent six years serving in the Army National Guard as an indirect fire infantryman, instilling a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried with him throughout his life.
Ricky joins those who have gone before him, including the love of his life, Diana Marie Neiderquill, his mother Elizabeth Anne Griffen, and his father William Bryan England Sr. Though he will be profoundly missed, the memories he created and the love he shared will forever resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. Ricky Dean England leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unwavering friendship that will inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
