Richard L. Brubaker
Englewood, CO
Richard Lundh Brubaker, 83, hometown of Loves Park, Illinois, peacefully passed away in his Colorado home on September 12, 2022 with his loving family at his side.
He appreciated life every day with his wife, Joyce, and was very proud of his children, Gary, Nancy, and son-in-law, Doug.
Dick found satisfaction in developing and honing his carpentry skills, and created several pieces of furniture. He was humble, but happy to share that he’d won two 300 games in his bowling league. And he thoroughly enjoyed rebuilding a 1954 Chevy pickup resto-mod.
Rich answered to many variations of his name, which spoke to his ability to evolve and adapt to change throughout his own life as a husband, father, and friend. And he was honored to have mentored many people learning to embrace change in their own lives, and to live forward.
Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Erbe Brubaker; his daughter Nancy and son-in-law Doug Bottlemy; his siblings, Don (Marianne) Brubaker, Carol (Mike) Abramovich, and Jean Turek; numerous nieces and nephews; and his cats, Lilah and Daisy. He is predeceased by his son, Gary; his parents, Svea Lundh and Victor Brubaker; his brother, Larry; brothers-in-law, Bob Turek and Robert Erbe; and sister-in-law Dorothy Erbe.
Services will be held graveside at Horan & McConaty Gardens on October 7, 2022.
Please make memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
