Rich Erwin, 64, passed away at home on April 1, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife Vicki Cornelius Erwin, his father, Charles Ward Erwin, Jr., son Shane, and daughter Shari. He leaves behind a sister, Cynthia Bill Shaffer, nephews Scott and Alex Shaffer, Michael and Scott Cornelius, Ryan Bridges, and nieces Sandi Bridges and Katelynd Sandusky, as well as his four grandchildren, Cierra, Trenton, Christabel, and Ethan. Rich was born in Evanston, Illinois and lived in Willamette, Illinois during his childhood. He also lived in Scottsdale, Arizona, Miami, Florida and graduated from high school in 1967 in Concord, MAssachusetts. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps, being stationed at Twenty-Nine Palms, California and Hawaii and was honorably discharged in 1972. Rich earned his bachelor's degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1976, and his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina, in 1985. Rich was a beloved minister at Carrboro Baptist Church in North Carolina for several years. He moved to Denver in the 90's and was self-employed as a handyman. Returning to North Carolina in 2000, he continued using his handyman skills and met his wife, Vicki, at HillSong Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In June of 2001, Rich became the operations manager for Joshua Station and supervised the reconstruction of a former motel into Mile High Ministry's vision of a transformational housing facility for homeless families. Rich loved his job as a family advocate and operations manager, and was a father figure to many of those whose lives he touched. Memorial service will be Saturday morning at 10:00am at His Love Fellowship on 9th and Kalamath, in Denver, followed by a reception at Joshua Station, 2330 W. Mulberry, also in Denver. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Joshua Station in Rich's memory.
