Raymond C. Sanchez “Mon”

Raymond blessed his family when he was born to Juan Sanchez and Otilia Sanchez on August 28, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His proud grandparents were Antonio and Clara Sanchez. Although he was preceded in death by the four of them, he took a lifetime of happy memories with him.

As a little boy growing up in the south valley, he was surrounded by family and friends. Strong influences in his life were his great parents, Todosio and Irene Sanchez. He helped his great grandfather, build houses and enjoyed riding dirt bikes. His favorite foods included moon pies, peanut butter and mayo, he loved his mother’s tamales. His siblings were Elijio Sanchez and wife Donna (has 6 children), Judy Sais and husband Joe (has 3 children), Manuel Sanchez (has 2 children), David Sanchez and wife Carol (1 child).

His love of the outdoors began in his childhood and only grew into his adulthood. Raymond loved Camping, being outdoors, gardening and  fishing. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football. Let’s not forget he had a knack for Poker. He loved his numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Any chance he had to take his grandchildren and nephews on short trips around New Mexico, he would happily take.

Raymond enjoyed 30 years working for St. Joseph’s Hospital, which is where he met his late wife, Beatrice Libario. He remained a loyal employee until retirement. The two enjoyed 28 years of marriage which brought them 2 children, who each blessed them with grandchildren. Ray Sanchez Jr (3 children), Rosalie Libario (2 children), Shirley Hielo (3 children), Victoria Romero (3 children), Sadie Sanchez-Baca and husband Nathaniel Baca (2 children).

Raymond was sociable and loved the company of others. He enjoyed traveling, dancing and listening to Spanish music. It brought him great joy to see others happy, he was very sincere and generous with his time.

He will remain in our hearts forever.
