Ray Lewis

Ray Lewis, age 86, passed away peacefully on February 25th in Gilbert, AZ.

Ray was born in Denver, CO on October 18, 1931. He was the son of John & Mildred (Key) Lewis.

He is survived by his children:

Ray Lewis II - of Denver, CO; LaLani (Lewis) Carter and husband David - of Lubbock, TX; LaDonna (Lewis) Kell and husband Mark - of Denver, CO.

Stepchildren:

Kim (Fritz) Bacon and husband Mike of Nepal, India; Kendra (Fritz) Hinkle and husband David of Chandler, AZ.

Ray is also survived by grandchildren:

Chris Carter and wife Page; Kenee' (Carter) Dover and husband Matthew; Daris Kell and Dakota Kell.

Step-grandchildren:

Michelle (Bacon) Jordan and husband Alex; Robert Bacon; Tyler Hinkle and Jake Hinkle.

Great-grandchildren:

Hudson, Canyon and Pierson Dover.

Ray is also survived by his brothers:

Alan Lewis and Gary Lewis and his wife Kay Lewis as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred Lewis, his twin brother Roy Lewis, his wife Nell (Sims) Lewis and his wife Janice (Fritz) Lewis.

Ray served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Upon return from active duty he joined the Denver Fire Department. Ray retired as a Lieutenant after 27 years with the Denver Fire Department. He also worked part-time in the grocery business as well as a house painter.

Ray married Nell (Sims) Lewis on July 10, 1055. They were married nearly 47 years until her death in March 2003.

Ray married Janice (Fritz) Lewis on August 14, 2004. They were married for nearly 13 years until her death in June 2017.

Memorial and Celebration of Life Service for Ray will be on Saturday, March 10th at 10:30 a.m. at Bear Valley Church of Christ 2707 S. Lamar Blvd., Denver, CO.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Mtn. States Children's Home, 14780 N. 107th St., Longmont, CO 80504.
