Priscilla W. Bates, 90, of Golden, CO died Monday, June 20, 2016, at Life Care Center of Evergreen. Born in Darien, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Wallis) Wagner. On the Jersey shore she met Peter M. Bates, her husband, best friend and true love. After they both graduated from Penn State (Pris with her Masters in Psychology), they moved to Colorado for the rest of their lives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Pris loved sports. She actively played tennis and was on Mt. Vernon Country Club's Tennis team, where she loved to compete. She was an avid skier and even taught skiing at Arapahoe East (when that existed across from Lookout Mountain). In her later years she took up golf and though she said she wasn't very good, she enjoyed the outdoors and camaraderie.
Besides sports she loved to make and create things. She has cross-stitched beautiful items from pillowcases to quilts, knit sweaters, scarves and hats, sewn everything - from most of our childhood clothes, gorgeous quilts to numerous crafts. She was one of the founding women to Lookout Mountain Crafters and would make abundant items all year long for their annual November sale.
Pris' ever expanding circle of friends, were enriched by her boundless enthusiasm for life, her quick wit, and laughter. Her smile and laugh lit up the room. Her love for her family, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was bound in fun, laughter and crazy card games. She is survived by her daughter Sioux (Henry) Barr of Silverthorne, her son, Bill (Susan) Bates (Minnesota), grandchildren, Chamisa Logemann, Keekan Broschart, Will, Beth and Mark Bates, great grandchildren Kierra, Riley, Evan (Logemann) & Hadley, Kase (Broschart). Priscilla is preceded in death by her husband (Peter), her parents, her brother (John), her sister (Nancy) and the many furry loves -of- her- life, her dogs, Bella, Charley, Nix Nox, Mishka, and Donnie.
A celebration of her life will be held at Mt. Vernon Country Club, July 8, 2016, from 12:30-3:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mt. Evans Hospice: 3081 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen, CO 80439.
Her love and laughter will be so greatly missed.
