Peter L. Stang, Sr., 81, of Centennial, CO passed away on December 17, 2016 in Littleton, CO. He was born in Tacoma, WA on June 7, 1935. He is survived by his wife of many years, Ella M. Stang, a piano theory and composition teacher, and his children Peter L. Stang, Jr. and Pamela R. Stang and three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Final services are being arranged under the direction of Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, Centennial, CO.
He was a graduate of the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA, where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and also went on to perform graduate studies in Chemistry at the University of Florida. He worked for over 50 years both in industry and as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy, and as a member of the Technical Staff at Princeton University with a diversified background working with energetic materials, including the research, development, production and safety of solid and hybrid rocket propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnics. He has over 40 technical publications, 11 U.S. patents, and an additional 14 patent disclosures. He enjoyed football and was a fan of the Denver Broncos.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held in the spring on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 3:00 PM at 5303 E. County Line Road (West of Holly Street) in Centennial, CO.
