He graduated from State Teachers College in Buffalo in 1940 and later earned a Masters degree at Ohio State University. He excelled at sports, playing baseball, tennis, badminton, soccer, basketball as well as golf and skiing, and was a natural athlete and captain of teams.
Paul began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher at Elmira High School in Elmira, NY; he later worked for Ball Aircraft, and then transitioned to the publication printing industry working in New York City and Boston. A chance 1958 introduction at the Brown Palace Hotel led Paul to move his young family from MA to Denver, CO where he joined Information Handling Services Corporation, an early micro-storage technology company and one of the first firms to establish itself in the Denver Tech Center. In 1973 Paul fulfilled a goal of becoming an independent business owner, purchasing the Better Bilt Door Co. and founding OKON, Inc., a Colorado-based manufacturing company producing environmentally safe water-based stains and sealers. He retired after selling the company in 1997.
He lived a life of purpose.
