Patrick "Pat" Sandoval, 72, of Lakewood, Colorado, entered his eternal resting place, December 8, 2018, after a week-long fight to survive a heart attack and subsequent stroke.
Pat earned his bachelor's degree in Education from the University of New Mexico (Go Lobos!) and spent his first year teaching in the urban schools of Compton, California in 1968-1969. He then moved to Tucson, Arizona where he was a middle school educator for 30 years. While teaching full time, he earned his master's degree in Education from the University of Arizona (Go Wildcats!). He taught industrial arts, fine arts, and math. He moved to the Denver area in 1998, and began a second career as an administrative assistant, and ultimately retired from Denver Health.
He was an accomplished cook and baker as well as an amazing artist. All who knew him well were recipients of handmade gifts and art pieces that he crafted himself. His "Pat's World Famous Almond Toffee" was one of his handmade creations that many of his friends and family members anticipated each holiday season. He shared his passion for creativity and aesthetic beauty with everyone he knew. He was a car enthusiast and voracious reader of car magazines, as well as books of all genres. A holder of a vast array of trivia knowledge, he was unmatched at the game, Trivial Pursuit, and could answer the questions on Jeopardy faster than any of the contestants. Another passion of his was travel. He and Jeremy visited a number of awesome places in many countries over the years, and had a tradition of spending a week in Mexico on the beach to celebrate their anniversary annually in December.
He is survived by his life partner of 17 years, Jeremy Everett, and his little dog, Angel. His siblings include: Sisters, Gloria (Greg), Shirley (Jake), and Denise (Chris). Jeremy's family includes: Parents, Robert "Bob" & Ruth Everett, and brother, Andy Everett (Mandi). He also had numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
People looked forward to gatherings that included Pat because he was fun to be around, and he shared his wonderful sense of humor and love of laughter with everyone around him. His infectious laugh, generous and kind spirit, and joyous presence will be missed.
Private family services will be held to celebrate Pat's amazing life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Pat's honor to Meals On Wheels at 2660 Larimer St. Denver, Co. 80205
