Pablo Francisco Griego, our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024, with his daughters, Claire and Barbara by his side. Pablo, 82, was born May 7, 1942, in Santa Fe, NM, graduated from Santa Fe High School and attended the College of Santa Fe. Following that he had a long and illustrious career at the New Mexico Highway Department for 40 years.
After retiring in 2005, Pablo followed his passion for music and for over 20 years, managed and performed with Mariachi Porvenir. In his retirement years, he also sang with the Santa Fe Harmonizers barbershop chorus, and met with his buddies to jam every Tuesday afternoon for many years.
Pablo is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo Griego, Sr. and Melinda Chavez Griego, and by his siblings Rose “Ippie” Baca, Gilbert Griego, Marcella Hernandez, and Grace Apodaca. He is survived by his sister Maida Apodaca, his daughters Frances Bonnie Reagan (Hal), Claire Polly Camp (Leroy), and Barbara Griego; his grandchildren Antonio and Jessica; his great-grandchildren Parker, AJ, Lake, Emily, Canyon, and Sam, and numerous family and friends.
Pablo was well known throughout Santa Fe for his service in the community, participation in sports with his buddies (the Derelicts), his love of music, and overall, for his generosity and sense of humor. He also sang in his church choir and traveled to Juarez with Casas por Cristo to build homes for families living in third-world conditions for many years. He leaves behind a long legacy of good works.
Services to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
Rosary & Catholic Mass at 9:00 am, San Isidro Catholic Church, 3552 Agua Fria St.
Interment at 11:00 am, Rosario Cemetery, 499 N Guadalupe St. A reception will follow at the family’s home.
