Orlando "Obie" Beals, Jr.

August 26, 1940 — August 27, 2022

Centennial

Orlando Evan Beals, Jr.  "OBIE" quietly passed away the evening of August 27, 2022, in his home in Centennial, CO.

"OBIE", as he was known by many folks made it his goal while being very ill to reach his 82nd birthday; and he did just that on August 26, 2022.

Obie was born and attended schools in Rock Island, Il and requested to be laid to rest in the National Cemetery at Rock Island Arsenal near many of his family members and friends.

Some folks in that area may remember him from the Quad-City Speedway as the "flagman" for the local and regional stockcar races that were a very popular attraction during his younger years residing in that area.  He was an avid collector (almost to a fault) because he loved to collect so many things that caught his fancy, it was sometimes hard for him to part with anything.  He was a Navy/Marine Corps veteran and until his retirement in1982 worked for the Department of Transportation/Federal Aviation Administration.

Preceded in death by his oldest son, James in 2015, he is survived by his wife, Nancy, his children; Rebecca, Steven and Christopher, his three grandchildren and one great-grandson.    His sister Carol and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
