Norman Dale Pick, aged 90 of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Sunday Jan 5, 2020 at home of cancer. He was born in Hubbard, Oregon on 05/05/1929 to his parents William and Sarah Pick. He had 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
He married his longtime sweetheart, Vivien, on July 27,2015. He started logging in Oregon in the late 1950’s and moved to Montana where he started his own logging business. His business grew from one truck to three. His next stop was Colorado where his logging business grew and he gave up hauling logs to loading them with his own loader. From Colorado he then moved his logging business to Cimarron, NM and remained there until 2016 before moving to Albuquerque. He went to work for a demolition company as a foreman and heavy equipment operator and then semi-retired in his late 80’s to travel the country with his wife and dogs in his motorhome. His favorite pastime was playing the slot machines.
He joined the service in February 1949 and was in the 103rd NCB (Naval Construction Battalion) as a heavy equipment operator and was stationed in Guam and The Marshall Islands. He was discharged in February 1953.
He is survived by his wife, Vivien, of Albuquerque, NM, 4 children: Sarah Moon of Portland, Oregon, Randy and Teresa Pick of Summerfield, OK, and Sandra and John Cates of San Jon, NM, 2 step children: Scott Tharp of Wyoming and Sherry Tharp of Albuquerque, NM, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and 1 Sister, Avis Waring of Virginia and his beloved dogs Puddles and Tazzi.
He was predeceased in death by his parents William and Sarah Pick, his first wife, Bernice Pick, one son, Woody Pick, brothers David, William, Donald, Richard and Delmar and sister Darthea Teeter, , one great-great grandson Fischer Sharp and his beloved dog Dolly.
Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery on January 27, 2020 at 1:30 p.m.
