Nicholas Christopher Claus
8/9/1989 - 4/20/2022
Nicholas Christopher Claus, Nick to his friends and family, was born in Riverside, California on 8/9/1989. He passed away in Englewood, Colorado, on 4/20/22 at the young age of 32 at Swedish Hospital after a long and valiant fight against cancer.
Nick’s childhood was filled with dirt bikes, football, and family and friends. He also spent many weekends with his maternal grandparents, Terry and Carol Russell. In his early teens, he moved with his paternal family to Colorado where he lived in various northern Denver suburbs. He was fiercely loyal to anyone he was close to. After school, Nick’s chosen career was plumbing, the same as his father and grandfather. He was an extremely hard worker and was always the first person to pitch in and help. Nick lived on the wild side early on, but after his first child Faith was born, that gave him a new focus and he started making positive changes in his life. His children were absolutely everything to him, and he was a devoted father and loved beyond measure by his kids. Nick was always the first one to crack a joke and laugh at himself with his signature laugh.
Nick was diagnosed with cancer in June of 2021 and fought through chemo, surgeries, radiation, strokes, ICUs, and hospice. There were many miracles and many defeats. Nick was so extremely strong but eventually passed surrounded by his family and many tears. As greatly as he was loved, so too shall he be missed.
Nick is survived by his paternal grandparents who raised him, Joseph & Pamela Claus of Thornton, Colorado; his parents, Michael (Daysi) Claus of Arvada, Colorado, and Stacy Gillis of Lehi, Utah; his sister Julie of Brighton, Colorado; his maternal grandparents, Terry & Carol Russell of Lehi, Utah; many aunts and uncles and cousins; and Shawn & Mony Cretti, the guardians of his children.
Nick is also survived by his beloved children, Faith (4 years old) and Cyrus (2 years old). A fund has been set up for his children. While we know no amount of money can make up for growing up without your loving father, we know Nick wants his children to have the best possible life. All moneys donated to this fund will be given to Nick’s kids when they come of age. We know Nick would be eternally grateful to anyone who helps his kids because of his passing.
