Natalie Warner

November 23, 1923 — May 21, 2016

With full hearts, we celebrate the life and mark the passing of Natalie "Mamanina" Carrillo Warner on May 21, 2016. Natalie died at age 92 in her Park Hill home surrounded by the family and community that she nurtured throughout her life. She was a teacher, potter, singer, human rights activist, and all-round joyous person who shared her love with many people beyond her large family. Mamaninas front door was never locked and her heart was always open. She was happiest when every sleeping spot in the house was occupied and she was quick to put on another pot of beans. Natalie travelled widely in the U.S. and Latin America, mostly to be with family, and she was the number-one fan at any grandkid's performance, exhibition, graduation, wedding or sporting events. She brought a smile and spark of life to all of the communities that she touched over the years, they are too many to name. She connected with people from every background and walk of life, while proudly sharing her Mexican roots and multicultural family.

Natalie was born on November 23, 1923 to Leonel and Adela Carrillo in Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art "Tulo" Warner, and her son, Marcos Warner, and is survived by her children, Joy (Kruch) Warner, Marcia (Jose) Cornejo, Dan (Barbara) Warner, Kee (Kate) Warner, Ruth (Moises Rodriguez) Warner; daughter-in-law Carilee Witta Warner; thirteen grandchildren-Nache (Abby), Brendan (Arabella), Luke (Jordan), Jack (Sarah), Harrison, Dani (Lil Milagro), Pablo (Aviana), Elias (Sharoia), Kaly, Ryland, Eva, Diego, and Emiliano; and, five great grandchildren-Neto, Risa, Desi, Calixto Ollin, and Natalie.

There will be no memorial service held at this time. We plan to have an informal gathering of remembrance in the late summer. Further information about these plans, memories and photographs will be shared at www.facebook.com/mamaninavida.

Contributions in memory of Natalie are being accepted for improvements to the Montaña Alegre family retreat in Buffalo Creek, Colorado. Checks made out in the name of Marcia Cornejo, may be mailed to Montaña Alegre LLC, 2319 Forest St., Denver, CO 80207.
