Myra B. Trujillo
05/06/1963-07/05/2022
Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Tía and Friend, Myra B. Trujillo, was called home to heaven on July 5, 2022. Accompanied by family and friends, Myra passed away peacefully at home. Her departure was greeted with a calm and gentle rain storm, devoid of lightning and thunder.
Myra was born to Floyd and Virginia Trujillo of Barranco, New Mexico on May 6, 1963. As a native of the Abiquiú Pueblo, Myra devoted her life to help preserve and propagate fading community practices and traditions to the next generation. She achieved this by cultivating ancestral chile, cooking traditional New Mexican cuisine, foraging local remedios, honoring her family, practicing her catholic faith and telling stories. Her genuine character, resiliency, and charismatic personality left lasting impressions on the people she met. Thus, the cultural seeds that Myra planted throughout her life will continue to grow and nourish the people she loved and mentored.
Extending beyond the pride she carried for her home, Myra cherished her parents, her children, and her extended family. Unmistakably, her parental adoration instilled Myra with a responsibility to emulate their best qualities. As a proud mother herself, she carried this wisdom forward to provide care and guidance to each of her children with equal devotion, intensity and love. Loyalty to both sides of her family ensured she was always appreciative and intelligent about the myriad of multigenerational relationships that populated her rich ancestral tree. Myra drew upon this comprehensive family knowledge, by dutifully listening and learning from her relatives, to make her cultural heritage thrive.
Myra is survived by her siblings, Virgil, Dexter, Margo, Jacob and Adrian Trujillo; her children, Giovanni and Brandy Luchetti, and Isaias Lopez; and her grandson, Dante Luchetti. Additionally, she is survived by her companion, Larry Martinez, and so many other family and friends including, but not limited to those belonging to the Salazar and Trujillo families.
Precise dates for Myra’s memorial services are forthcoming, and will be published in the Rio Grande Sun and Santa Fe New Mexican. In the interim, we thank her family and friends for their patience.

The Family of Myra Beverly Trujillo has entrusted the care of their beloved one to Avista Cremation & Burial "where healing begins".
