Milton Richard (Dick) Schroeder passed
away peacefully in Littleton, CO December
2, 2017, in the home of his son Kurt
and was surrounded by his family.
Dick was born September 10, 1935 in
New Haven, CT. He is now reunited with
his parents Milton and Hazel (Hansen)
Schroeder. He leaves his loving wife of
58 years Patricia (Dahlgard) Schroeder; his son Kurt
(Naima) and their son Zack; his son Erik with his children
Annika and Axel; his brother Bob (Linae); his
cousin Donald Hansen and many nieces and nephews.
Dick graduated from Deerfield Academy and attended
St. Lawrence University before joining the United
States Marine Corps where he served with the Presidential
and Ceremonial Honor Guard in Washington
D.C. During his service, Dick was a member of the
Marine Corps Silent Drill Team and guarded President
Dwight D. Eisenhower at Camp David.
Dick's sons Kurt and Erik and many other youth hockey
players benefited from Dick's coaching skills. Dick
was instrumental in educating many players and families
regarding opportunities that New England boarding
schools had for young student athletes. Dick also
coached the Sheehan High School varsity women's
softball team to a state championship. Dick was very
involved with hockey and football officiating at the
high school, prep school and collegiate levels.
Dick owned and operated M. Richard & Company for
over 30 years. Upon his retirement, Dick and his wife
Pat traveled throughout the United States and Canada
in their motor home, meeting many new friends along
the way. Their summers were spent where they met as
children at Lanphier's Cove in Branford, CT.
