Michele D. Smith Johnson, 60, of Mt. Juliet, TN, passed away at her home on Monday, April 1, 2024, surrounded by love, with her husband and daughter by her side.

Michele was born in Chicago, IL on February 20, 1964, and had lived in Tennessee for over 30 years.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, watching the sunrise, going to concerts and listening to music, vacationing at the beach, cheering for the VOLS, and soaking up the sunshine.

Michele was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Jean Herman; father, Lonnie “Bill” Smith; brother, Anthony “Tony” Smith; and parents-in-law, Helen and Denver Johnson.

Michele is survived by her husband, Scott Johnson; daughter, Candace and husband, Jonathan Mash; granddaughters, Stella Jean and Monroe Lucille Mash; step-siblings Barbara and Steven Herman; brother-in-law Tony and wife, Debbie Johnson; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Kingsport, TN.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute, or American Cancer Society in Michele’s honor, in hopes of curing this horrible disease.
